HoPe&Act: TOWARDS A PEDAGOGY OF HOPE, RESILIENCE & ACTION: Innovating Curricula for inclusive & global citizenship through the framework of the UN Global Goals (SDGs)
This project is inspired by Paulo Friere ‘s Pedagogy of Hope, which notes that although hope alone is not enough to achieve liberation, without hope there is no struggle at all. Through the formal curricula we will explore how a pedagogy of hope can be weaved into everyday classroom encounters to form the cornerstone of education and learning with educators and learners building a community to learn.
To this end we will develop our innovative practices using the UN Global Goals (SDGs). The SDG framework is a useful and accessible starting point for developing a GCE approach and embedding a more global ethos into any school or organization. The SDGs are a helpful tool for enhancing existing curricula and engaging the whole school community (including parents and governors), as well as for collaborating with other groups and organizations’ to consider the relationship between the local and the global.
This project, which will provide free training to 8 teachers from each partner’s own country—a total of 40 teachers—will help cross-sectoral partners to see the learning and teaching process from a different perspective and to evaluate and analyze different methods for learning and growth.
