Hi, I am Vincent, and I am finishing my 2 months of ESC volunteering in Türkiye.
My workshops were essentially English conversation clubs, mostly with students and sometimes with children. For these workshops, I had to prepare games or activities with my partner, in conjunction with the participants. For my workshops with the children, I tried to create dynamic games mixing English and sports because they were full of energy. The workshops with the students was different; I enjoyed coming up with new ideas for the activities. The participants were always very engaged. After the workshops, us volunteers and participants sometimes met to have a coffee and talk about our origins and journeys.
The Turkish people are generally very welcoming. I have never had a bad experience. I really liked the atmosphere in Izmir. Izmir is much more vibrant, very different from my very small village in the middle of the woods. I found it nice to see the cultural and visual similarities between Turkey and my region, Provence, which also borders the Mediterranean Sea.
This first volunteering experience was really interesting. It allowed me to meet new people, discover new cultures, and explore the world of volunteering.
Thank you for this opportunity!
