Professional and Cultural Growth Through Volunteering in Izmir
Hi everyone! My name is Kasia, and I have been living in Izmir since the end of September.
During this time, I have had the opportunity to participate in a wide range of professional and
cultural activities that significantly enriched my experience. My main responsibilities included
conducting English language classes as well as taking part in various workshops organized
in cooperation with members of the local community. These activities allowed me not only to
develop my professional skills, but also to build meaningful relationships with people from
diverse backgrounds.
Throughout my stay, I made a conscious effort to balance professionalism with a deep respect for the history, traditions, and cultural identity of the local community. I approached my work with creativity, openness, and courage, striving to achieve high-quality results while remaining sensitive to the needs and perspectives of others. Engaging directly with local residents enabled me to gain a better understanding of their culture and everyday life, which further enhanced the value of my work.
In addition to my professional commitments, I actively explored the Izmir region in order to better understand its natural and cultural heritage. Discovering the surrounding areas and admiring the local landscape allowed me to fully appreciate the richness and diversity of the region. At the same time, I felt it was important to share my own cultural background with the local community. I did so primarily through preparing traditional Polish dishes and engaging in conversations about Polish customs and traditions, which fostered mutual cultural exchange and understanding.
