This project is an important initiative that aims to investigate a volunteering experience focused on the empowerment of young women. The project aims to contribute to gender equality and the empowerment of women by examining the motivations, challenges and transformations of long-term European Solidarity Corps (ESC) volunteers from Türkiye and European Union (EU) countries.

In the interviews that will last from autumn 2024 to summer 2025, a total of 3 interviews will be held with 6 long-term ESC volunteers, each lasting at least 1 hour, in the early months, in the middle and near the end of their projects. 3 of these volunteers are Turkish and 3 are women from EU countries. The interviews will start in October and aim to deeply understand the motivations of the volunteers, their expectations about the projects, the challenges they face and how they are affected by their experiences.

Through these interviews, the development of the volunteers over time, how their expectations have evolved and in which areas of personal development they have progressed will be evaluated. In line with the findings obtained at the end of the project, the effects of ESC volunteering projects on young women will be analyzed more comprehensively and suggestions for improving the program will be presented.
