We held the final event of our Erasmus+ KA2 Hope&Act project, which started in November 2020 and proceeded under the coordination of our partner Changemakers Unltd from England on 28th January, Saturday with the participation of our partners in Izmir.
Towards Hope, Resilience and a Pedagogy for Action: Innovating the curriculum for inclusive and global citizenship within the framework of the UN Global Goals (SDGs) project number 2020-1-UK01-KA201-079188 in our Erasmus+ KA2 project, the sustainable development goals published by the UN as a universal call to action aims to raise awareness among students and to raise awareness of individuals about the concept of global citizenship. Considering the importance of the relationship between educators and learners, this project focused on how hope and values-based learning pedagogy could be incorporated into daily classroom encounters to form the cornerstone of education and learning through the official curriculum.
The final event of this KA2 project, in which Universitat de Valencia and CIPFP Misericòrdia from Spain, Hangö Gymnasium from Finland, Changemakers Unltd from England and Pi Youth Association from Türkiye are partners, started with partner presentations.
As Pi Youth Association, the 3 secondary schools we worked with within the scope of the project – Bornova Mediha Mahmutbey Secondary School, Karabağlar Private Delta College and Menderes Gölcükler Adnan Olcay Secondary School – shared with the participants their projects they designed in line with sustainable development purposes and how the process worked for them.

In our event, in which the participation of teachers working in different districts of İzmir was intense, 2 workshops were held on how student projects should be conducted by the teachers and the facilitators of the students, as well as on the recognition of sustainable development goals and the building of active global citizenship. It continued with the panel “A Participatory Model for Sustainability: Young Sustainability Ambassadors” of experts from the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Sustainable Urban Development Network.
Right after our event, we held our 4th transnational project meeting with our partners on 29, 30 and 31 January in Izmir. The final details to be completed in our project, which will end by the end of March, were discussed and work began on the project report. At the same time, our partners had the chance to visit İzmir and discover local flavors.
