Agora Ancient City, located in the Konak district of Izmir, is an important historical ruin that was founded in the 4. Century BC and survived until today. This artifact, which was functioning as the state agora of Smyrna city, was the center of commercial, political, religious and cultural activities.
Agora was built on a rectangular plan and it has three floors. The first floor consisted of shops and warehouses. The second floor consisted of administrative buildings and stoas. The third floor was used for sculptures and other works of art.

One of the most important structures of the Agora is the Stoa Basilica, which was built in the 2. century BC. This structure is 240 meters long and 20 meters wide. The Stoa Basilica was used as both a trade center and a social meeting place.
