What is ESC Humanitarian Aid?

The European Voluntary Humanitarian Aid Corps is a volunteering program launched by the European Commission in 2022. It offers young people aged 18–35 the opportunity to support humanitarian aid efforts in non-EU countries for periods ranging from 2 to 12 months for the long term projects.

Beyond disaster preparedness and post-disaster relief, volunteers engage in projects addressing gender equality, the protection of vulnerable groups, climate change, food security, and more. These activities are carried out with experienced humanitarian organisations and include full training, insurance, mentoring, and language support.

About SASID
Solidarity Action for Sustainable and Inclusive Development (SASID) is a global cooperation project addressing climate change and social inequality. It supports vulnerable communities in Brazil, Ghana and Vietnam through the involvement of 16 young European volunteers in two 10-month ESC cycles.

What Drives Us
We believe sustainable development must be inclusive. Aligned with the UN’s “Leave No One Behind” agenda, we aim to help communities move from aid dependency to resilience and long-term development through solidarity and global cooperation.

The Heart of the Initiative
Volunteers and local communities work together to fight climate change, promote inclusion, and build empathy. We prioritize “solidarity over charity,” empowering young people to take active roles in society.

Solidarity in Action
Volunteers engage in environmental action, disaster prevention, and inclusive community work. The project blends civic education with meaningful, hands-on volunteering experiences.

Building a Fairer Future
We target the root causes of climate injustice and support young people with fewer opportunities. Our goal is to create stronger, fairer communities through youth-led action.

Why We Act
Our conversations with community leaders in Brazil, Ghana, and Vietnam revealed an urgent need for better disaster preparedness and environmental support. SASID connects local knowledge with international cooperation to build a more just and sustainable future.
