Hey my name is Angus McGill and I’m from Portugal.

Coming to Türkiye was a different summer for sure! On the first day, it was very confusing and a lot of mixed emotions. New city, new people, new culture and also it’s a huge city compared to Lisbon.
I didn’t know how to communicate with people in Türkiye because not a lot of people talk English so it was a little bit difficult. Although, even without people speaking English, if I looked lost or in any situation, people would try to help without me even asking, I found very warm people in this country and it 100% helped a lot.
To cheer up I had Lexie and Maria that, for sure, were so important in this path! We shared great memories together, amazing beach days and parties! With all those important things, I felt home and it was perfect to feel that sometimes!
I really enjoyed being with the kids at the workshops and all the dynamic and effort that are put on by volunteers to entertain and teach these kids! I will keep great memories from them and for everybody that helped me in this time.
I also want to thank Begüm for being attentive and thoughtful on diverse situations.
I shared some moments with her even if it was by WhatsApp, she would always ask if everything was okay, if I arrived to the workshop fine and if there was anything going on! So thank you for that!
Resuming all of my almost two months in Türkiye, it was a good experience I got to travel to plenty of places during my stay in Izmir and to have contact with a different culture!

Last but not less important: I LOVED LIVING IN BUCA!! I will miss my apartment 🤣
