Given the growth of mentoring in Europe and the fact that mobility projects are seen as a real non-formal education opportunity, it is important to assess the impact of mentoring on international mobility participants.

The MENTOR project aims to strengthen the capacity of youth organizations by providing them with tools to facilitate the implementation of mentoring activities within their activities.

The specific objectives of the project are:

  • To valorize existing needs and expectations on mentoring in the youth sector.
  • To create of a pedagogical tool for youth organizations/professionals to implement mentoring activities in their own organization.
  • To develop a training course to train and engage future mentors.
  • To enable mentors and mentees to follow the progress of their pair.

Partners from France, Italy, Macedonia, Türkiye, and Romania will work together throughout the project to ensure good progress and communication in order to achieve the expected results.

Expected Results: In this context, the MENTOR project partnership aims to create 4 productions during the 26months of the project, which are:

  • Transnational study on mentoring needs to enable an EU-wide dissemination of the mentoring needs of youth professionals related to international mobility projects.
  • Guide for youth professionals to engage youth professionals to contribute to the implementation of Mentoring on a European scale.
  • Training for future Mentors. Mentors, either former international mobility participants or people who have already lived abroad for at least 3 months, are trained in their role as mentors in order to properly accompany mentees (future international mobility participants).
  • Mentors & Mentees Portfolio for them to be informed and guided on how to accompany or to be accompanied.

In line with the ambitions of the European Commission and the Erasmus+ program, the five partners aspire to set new dynamics toward the implementation of Mentoring Europe. All tools developed will be open source, freely available for consultation and download via the partners’ websites in English, French, Italian, Macedonian, Turkish, and Romanian.

Public and Beneficiaries: The project is aimed at several target publics such as youth workers, former and future international mobility participants, and anyone who wants to engage in a mentoring relationship with future participants.

Youth workers will have the tools to implement mentoring activities within their own organization and thus better support their international mobility participants. Future mobility participants, will benefit from better support throughout their mobility project through mentoring. They are therefore considered mentees.  Former participants in international mobility and/or any person who has already lived abroad for at least 3 months and who wish to engage in a relationship as Mentor to accompany future participants. Mentors are provided with training and tools to enable them to have all the necessary keys for their role as mentors.
